I read several reports in Undercurrent and in the Chapbook about Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas before we left and I had some concerns. Most of the comments that I read had references such as "cattle boat" and the like. The people who used words like that are crybabies and need to get a grip. I've never seen an operation as large as SCDB run as smoothly and efficiently. They are very good at what they do and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Ground transportation to and from the dive shop was always on time and charters always departed on time. So for someone to suggest that the operation was less than a great experience is just plain silly. Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas is a very smooth running and efficient operation. Everyone that we were in contact with, boat captains and crew, dock crew, dive shop, etc. were all very friendly and helpful. Individuals who have said they had a bad experience should consider the possibility that it was them and not SCDB. As far as our accomodations are concerned, I was not impressed with the Wyndham Nassau Resort. Not only did we NOT get the room rate that we were quoted when we made the reservation through corporate reservations, they also charged us and additional $15/per person per night for what they called a "resort fee". That minor non-disclosure cost our group and additional $735.00 in hotel expenses. In my opinion, the Wyndham Nassau Resort does not provide a $200.00/night room - clean yes, but not worth $200.00/night. The common areas of the resort are what I would kindly call "tired". I felt like I was stepping back into the '70s. For a little more, I should have stayed at the Sheraton which was right down the beach. Infinitly nicer property! If you're planning a trip to the Nassau area, stay at the Sheraton on Cable Beach (unless you like all-inclusives) and dive with Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas. |
