Comments I had one day cruise stop in Puerto Vallarta off of the Norwegian Star. I do not book the cruise dive excursion because it is geared to lowest levels. I booked directly with Vallarta Adventures. I inquired from several PADI 5 star dive operations. They were the only Puerto Vallarta dive shop to respond to my email questions. They were very quick to respond and had a toll free phone number from USA.

Prior Chapbook reports indicated average diving in Puerto Vallarta. I should have believed these reports. To indicate the degree of my boring dive experience, it should suffice to say the highlight of the dive was the excellent lunch complete with meat, beer, salad and dessert. I have dived more than 500 dives. These were two of the most boring dives I can recall. Few fish, minimal live coral, only 30’ visibility, approximately a long 70 minute two-boat ride to the dive site. Vallarta Adventure is a large business including many non-dive related trips leading to a cattle-car type operation. There were about 30 to 40 divers and snorkelers on the boat as we left the dock. After about a 45 minute boat ride on a 45’ well equipped boat, the advanced divers transferred to a small open boat for another 25 minute ride The dive guide tried to do his best to show us anything of interest, but even the purportedly ever-present nurse sharks did not make an appearance. There were a few interesting tunnels and caves. I am told Mantas come into the bay, but I could not prove it. In all fairness, it was probably my fault I was not weighted correctly on either dive which led to uncomfortable dives. But my incorrect weight, did not change the overall experience of a boring dive experience.
