As reported in the May '08 issue, the diving is good to very good (lots of
small fishes; water is warm (esp., 28C at Alona divers); viz. is good;
costs are very low.
Tierra Azul (not recommended because it's almost shabby and no pool) only
cost $15 (800 peso)/ nite for a fan room; that includes breakfast and sorta
service -oriented personnel. At Trudi's place, lunch can be packed for ~
$2; dinner can be had for ~ $5 ( 250 peso).
At Alona beach the locals do not really hassle/ hustle you for service for
money. But, there must be an escort service since one can see Filipino
girls with blonde guys and old guys.
Lots of photo ops. Much diverse people -- Germans, Czech, French, etc.;
but, al speak English. Saw signal golby on 1 dive; pygmy seahorse at local
dive site and Baslicasag island.
At Marine Village Dive House (south Cebu) the food was good and when there
are a few people there, they OVER-feed you. Saw barramudi and ghost pipe
fishes (2 types), etc.
