Comments I was only in St. Thomas for 4 days for a convention. Chris Sawyer, in Red Hook, was very willing to accomodate me and my dive buddy though we were only doing 1 tank afternoon dives. Boat could have held 10 people comfortably. There were only 6 on one dive and 7 on the other. The shop does not cater to the cruise ship beginners or appear to run cattle boats. The groups were of varying certification and experience levels. The dives were basic divemaster dives and two very established dive sites. Did not feel rushed or treated like we had to get the dives finished and back on the boats.

I had been on a live-aboard in the BVI over the New Years and did not have high expectations for St. Thomas based on that experience and what I had read. I was pleasantly surprised that the reefs were in good shape and contained plenty of macro life. The usual suspects were there: parrotfish, tangs, angelfish, etc. Did not have the numbers of the BVI but a pleasant enough diversion from my meetings.

I would definitely dive with this branch of Chris Sawyer again even on their day trips to St. John, Rhone wreck, etc. Well run and seems to put divers first. All in all good people with diver-friendly attitudes.
