COVER STORY

Languid Salt Cay, A Turks & Caicos Hideaway

Until a decade ago, the only time Salt Cay got much attention was after a Hollywood mogul read a 30s romance novel about Salt Cay's salt barons entitled Dildo Cay and turned it into a movie, tastefully retitled "Bahama Passage." Now, several sleepy decades later, handfuls of divers join the 130 residents for Salt Cay diving, which ranges from the eels, eagle rays, and reef fish among the corals and sea fans along North Wall to the possibility of snorkeling with 45-foot humpback whales. Check out our picks and nixs of the diving, the dive operation and places to stay.
