Comments The Good news: The 22 year old Aquacat is still, IMHO, the finest liveaboard diving platform in the world. We had a group of 21 Club Ed members, many of which were back for their second or third Aquacat adventure. The Aquacat had a crew of 11 professional eager-to-please members.
Captain Tim ordered in pristine weather and averted 90% of rocky seas. This man KNOWS how to drive a ship!
First Mate, Second Captain Morgan deftly piloted the Sea Dog (26' diesel jet power).
Divemasters and Instructors- Joe, Mikey, Cassidy, and Josh anticipated our needs and exceeded them. They all assisted when needed and expertly watched over us all. They expertly managed the dive deck and kept it in order, constantly observing our group of experienced divers.
*Chef Lauro and Sous Chef Kim: Where to begin? Three 4 Star meals every day! Quality plentiful food served buffet style. (Kims Ginger Snaps were scrumptious!) Staples/groceries are not plentiful in Nassau and Lauro had to visit 7 grocery stores to stock for the next week!
Engineers: Charles and Seraphim kept the AC, compressors, nitrox, plumbing, and the entire ship in hum-dinger shape!
House-Mouse: Dihania made sure our beds were clean and towels fresh. Agee marveled at the quality of the bed linens and bedding. Mama was happy! The Aquacat sparkled after all these years at sea!
A unique and excellent feature are the enclosed dive deck showers. Plenty of HOT water and privacy. These were a god-send!

The Not-So-Good-News: The Bahamian reefs are hammered by too many divers, copious coverings of lettuce algae, Lionfish, Hurricanes, and whatever else God throws at them.
Sure...any day diving is the best day, but I've been on some of the best and they are not in the Bahamas. I began diving the Bahamas in 1988 aboard The Crown Islander.
The reefs are in some of the poorest shape of any reefs I have seen. Many are nearly devoid of fish with a mere 40-50 foot visibility. As we approached Little San Salvador, the quality and condition of the reefs/visibility significantly improved but it was an 7 hour distance to get to them. We stayed a couple of days on those sites,
(*I asked Lauro for his Tuna Coating recipe and Kim for her Ginger Snap recipe. Both told me they would write it down, but neither delivered on it. My only Aquacat negative.)
But hey, at least the Aquacat itself is still sparkling after all these years at sea and the 21 dives offered were more-than-welcomed!
