Comments Our group from Wateree Dive Center in Columbia, SC returned for our 8-9th visit to Riding Rock Inn & diving with Guanahani Divers ( Michigan Dive Adventures). The flights were no problem, with the only real problem during the week was the weather. It rained daily, sometimes heavy with occasional lightning. However, the viz was awesome with 125-150 foot visibility being seen daily. The dive operation is good, led this week by Betsy & Carlos. They are safety conscious but let you dive your own profile. We saw multiple sharks on all dives except two & good fish life with only 4 lion fish seen all week. The boat could use some work with a shakey rail, but was adequate. We had about 12-14 divers aboard with 2 divemasters in the water.
The hotel is adequate with some rooms with new furniture. The service & staff was excellent. The only real negative is that to get ice for your room, you have to hike to the bar. The food was very good, with the best conch chowder & conch fritters in the Caribbean. The food was plentiful & quite delicious. The bar is good, run by Peaches who is wonderful. Michelle, Jason, Kevin & Carlos do a great job in this family run resort.
This is great diving with unbelievable viz. The weather was lousy, but we enjoyed our week. This is a divers’ resort, so if you require 5 star hotels, this is not for you. We love Riding Rock & will definitely return.
