Comments When my spouse and I were ready to finalize another trip to the Florida Keys to dive, because of Covid restrictions in the islands, we found out that the Bahamas had just opened and quickly booked a trip to Nassau. We stayed at Sandy port, beach club, and Dove with Stewart Cove, Sandy ported several levels of accommodations. We stayed in a unit and had a bedroom setting room and kitchen and it was clean and comfortable with many nearby restaurants. Stewart Cove provided the shuttle to get to their dive shop and back to the resort as they do most resorts on Nassau. The dive operation had an easy check in process and was well organized for a larger dive business. The safety protocols were followed, and the dive briefings were clear. The underwater life was typical middle Atlantic/Caribbean varieties with a nice dose of sharks and turtles and some medium-size fish and small fish. I can only complain about the fact that the 40 some foot Newton dive boats had twin engines, but on at least two of these boats only one of the diesel engines were working at the time of our trip. And talking to the boat captains they said it was a supply chain issue that prevented the operation from keeping both engines running. They needed engine parts that they could not get. This made the boats a little slower, the trips a little longer, but not drastically so. I can’t help.from wondering if the one engine that was working on a twin engine boat failed that would’ve caused some problems, but they did not fail during my trip. In my experience, a dive destination of this size is just begging for more dive operators, Stewart Cove could use some competition. I think it would be good for everyone. Overall, it was a good trip. I’ll go back eventually, J.P.
