Comments I am in general not much of fan of diving in Caribbean, after many dives in Caribbean I can swear I know every grouper or Angle fish by name. I have a suspicion that they move the same fish from location to location just to show me. When I got the chance to go to Bahama, my enthusiasm was basically ...meh!
Flight from California was long but fairly event free and easy. I am very particular about the dive operators I dive with and had done my research. The resort we stayed was OK, border on the good side. No frills, as far as resorts go, but comfortable and nice, they should have better selection of vegetarian food, but good overall.

The dive operators are Karen and Stan the owners of Sunn Odyssey, , one of most interesting couples I have ever met. Stan is actually every martinet Diver master and instructor. Which was very good. He can recognize good divers (me and my wife) that have over 500+ cold water dives under their belt and left us to ourselves. Specially since we both are photographers.

I was watching him teaching some students in the pool; a very by the book instructors and disciplined. Very impressive.

We had book three days of diving but due to small craft advisory he cancelled one day. On the second day, weather improved and we went off diving. Not a bad dive but nothing spectacular. Again saw the same fish and reacquainted with all long lost friends underwater.

Second day I think he felt bad for us, that we missed one day of diving, so he took us to Dan's Cave (actually is a cavern). There are not enough words for me explain how magical and specular that place was. It truly blew my mind.

A unique cave that seawater and fresh water mixes so you go from fresh water to sea water and that transition region. The utter stillness of the water where you seemed as though you are floating in space. The deep turgid water color, the rock formations. It was out of this world.

Since this is a cavern and you have direct access to the surface no cave certification is required. I may wanne go back just to dive that place again.
Can't say enough kind words about Karen and Stan..helpful, attentive, and funny.

Grand Bahama is actually a nice place to spend your vacation, we had a nice beach to play in, enjoyed driving around and shopping, long walks on the beach and by the resort. Very safe and clean.

Over all a great vacation
