Comments I booked this winter trip on the Belize Aggressor IV after enjoying a lovely trip in August, knowing that winter conditions would be very different. Indeed, the heavy winds (often 40+ knots) prevented the boat from spending much time at the beautiful exposed sites of Lighthouse Reef (including no Blue Hole), but the safety of the boat and divers came first. Viz was less clear than on my August trip, water temps were lower (77-79F), and we saw fewer large animals, perhaps because we were not able to dive to exposed reefs. I like the cabins, large enough for comfort, and with real beds, not bunks. The crew was overall excellent, with special kudos to Captain Dennis, Chef Jerry, DMs John and Mario, and the hostesses, Jean and Ellia. There was one glitch that came on the last day: both engines failed, and the crew was unable to repair them while at sea. Luckily, the Belize Aggressor III was nearby (subject to the same sea conditions), and literally towed us back from Turneffe to the mainland dock. The two captains, Dennis and Shea, skillfully guided the boat to the dock by lashing BAIII to BAIV side by side, and gently guiding the crippled vessel in. Parallel parking by proxy was very impressive!

Yikes. BOTH engines failed? I'd question maintenance. I traveled on BA IV in April 2017, and we had some wind, couldn't dive some sites, and very few sharks. Cabin, crew and FOOD was great, though.
