Comments Be wary of diving with Amigos Del Mar. I dove with them yesterday was was unhappy that my first regulator tended to free flow, the second stuck. Both dives I had to switch to the spare. Thank goodness we were only on local dives, 10 minutes from the dock so it was easy to switch out the gear. All the gear looked quite tired and worn.

We dove Tackle Box and San Pedro Canyon. The dives themselves were disappointing. Visibility was down to 60' or so due to a storm that had rolled through the night before...ok, I get that because of the storm things were churned up and am fine with that. But there were hardly any fish on either of the dives. We saw plenty of friendly nurse sharks, one even followed us, got its belly rubbed by the dive master, then continued to follow us as is asking for more. There was plenty of coral, fans, plumes, sponges, even a couple of reef sharks and tiger groupers... but the clouds of reef fish I was expecting were no where.

We were supposed to dive the Blue Hole with ADM, but because of the regulator issues and the fact that their dive plan violated PADI and NAUI no decompression limits, we chose to not go.

a good reason why you should own your own equipment

Agreed. I used to have my own equipment. But I dive only once or twice a year and the cost of maintenance and traveling with it became prohibitive.
