Comments I have always said that if I could make one last dive trip it would be a Belize liveaboard. So when Planet Ocean Scuba Center in Columbus booked a trip, I decided to go along. The planes were on time, no one got dragged down the aisle of the plane and the luggage arrived safely. We arrived too early to board the boat so killed the first part of the day at the Radisson where we ate a good lunch, though the service was erratic and slow. Afterward we were paraded through the street to the Aggressor which was docked at the customs dock as the main dock in town was undergoing repairs.

We found tiny but adequate rooms. I was with my bride but those sharing with friends would of necessity become much better friends than perhaps they had intended, or wanted, to. They were the smallest rooms I have encountered since the old Sea Fever/Bahams days. I would not have wanted to book as a single traveler. The rooms were far too small.

The dive deck was large and well laid out, there was a big camera table, though it was a collector for things other than cameras. With the advent of digital, you don't open cameras between dives anyway so I didn't see it as a problem. We each had a deck towel with your cabin number on it and the crew went out of their way to manage the divers.

The water was colder than we had anticipated so we only did two or three dives a day. The diving was disappointing anyway so we just enjoyed our time on the boat. We dived along the reef in two general areas, some did a blue hole dive. Its a checklist dive and we had already checked it off. The last time we were in Belize we stayed at Turneffe Island Lodge. They gave us much more varied diving than the Aggressor did. And I would go back there. But not to the aggressor.

We did visit the bird sanctuary and was saddened to see the old lighthouse had disintegrated as the island eroded.

The food on the boat was good. The crew was excellent but the accommodations were meager.
