Comments I led a group of divers and snorkelers to Blackbird Caye Resort in February. Overall I was impressed with the level of service for resort and dive operation, quality of food, cleanliness and comfort of rooms, and ease of diving. The only challenge is getting there. We had to connect through Houston and our flight was delayed resulting in us missing our connection and not able to get a flight into BZE later that day. As a result we had to pay for a private transfer on Sunday as the resort only provides transfers from BZE on Saturday. Once we got there, life was good. Check in was easy, food was great and diving was even better. The dive staff is excellent. They set up gear on first day and only thing you have to worry about from then on is your wetsuit, computer and cameras. Boats are comfortable and except for trip to Bue Hole, Lighthouse reef, Elbow Reef, time to dive site is 5 min allowing you to return to resort between dives. Reefs were some of the healthiest I have seen in the Caribbean. We enjoyed our dive on their new wreck the Witconcrete. Highlight of the week was the Blue Hole and Lighthouse Reef. Lots of variety of marine life, mostly the usual suspects, including moray eels, turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks, reef sharks, schools of triggers, trunk fish and a few sightings of spotted eagle rays. Lionfish are speared and make a tasty treat of ceviche one day. Accomadations were comfortable. Most rooms had double beds with dresser, couch and table with bathroom. New suites are beautiful. The bathroom shower is larger than my bathroom at home. Food were buffet for breakfast and lunch and plated dinner. Food was good only improvements would be more options for our vegetarian divers who didn't have as many well planned options/variety. Alcoholic drinks are extra and not overpriced. Would I return? Yes, I would make arrangements to get to Belize or at least to gateway city on Friday, to assure getting through customs and making the planned boat transfer.
