Comments I dove 4 days with Ecologic Divers in early January. Their dock was conveniently close to my hotel. (I did dive 1 day at Ramon's as Ecologic was closed on Jan 1. I reviewed them last trip--another fine operation).

Prior to the trip, I had been in regular correspondence with Germain and the owner; they were easy to contact and arrange dives. Because of a bit windy/choppy weather, we had to scrap one of the diving days. The dive shop was laid back and flexible with scheduling.

We were in a small boat each day, diving with Charlie and a few captains. He helped divers as needed, found various sea critters, and was a fun and knowledgeable divemaster. The waves were a bit difficult and he let us go under while waiting for the rest of the group to enter. Once surfacing, he had a system of helping us take off gear, making for an easy exit climb up the ladder. I think that our boat had more experienced divers, and there were also new and less experienced divers on different boats.

I like the valet service of setting up our gear. I dove without a wetsuit for the first time ever, and it wasn't too cold. It was actually pleasant not hassling with putting on my old 3mil full suit. Charlie dives with just a skin. Again, I enjoyed diving with Charlie. He assisted if needed but let us dive our own profile.

The only negative was the condition of some of the rental equipment. I had to rent a reg one time with a slow 2nd stage leak and someone else in my family rented a reg and BC which had some issues, but there were no threats to safety, they took care of problems, and I definitely felt comfortable diving with this op.

We dove the local reefs every dive. When on Caye Caulker, I previously took trips to the Blue Hole and Turneffe. Really, the local dives are just fine with me. They are cheaper, quick to get to and the surface interval is back on the dock. There are so many nurse sharks, and a few other sharks, a variety of macro and fish life, and reefs are in good shape. We have been to Cozumel a few times which is also great, but I love the vibe and diving (some drift) in Belize. We are going back this January to again dive with Ecologic Divers if COVID is under control.
