Comments Hamanasi Resort was a great resort. Beautiful accomodations; great food; and excellent customer service. The resort offered a number of activities in addition to diving including kayaking; jungle trecking; cave tubing. The week we were there was quite windy and the seas very choppy. Shoes/sandals were not allowed on the dive boats which made for unsafe, slippery conditions.

The reefs near the resort (about a 20-30 minute boat ride) were healthy and had good fish life, although not a lot of large fish. Schools of eagle rays were bountiful. The resort offered a 3-tank boat dive to the reefs farther offshore (about an hour boat ride) such as Turneffe Caye, but those did not have anything more to offer than the reefs closer in. Snorkeling was a good bet - also by boat to the nearby reefs. A guide accompanied the snorkelers. They saw a good variety of fish including nurse sharks, rays, tropicals.

UW Photo Comments Dive boat had a marked water container for cameras. The boat crew failed to instruct the divers that the container was only for cameras and not masks. Therefore, masks were rinsed in the camera container until someone informed the crew what was going on. They assumed everyone knew boat etiquette.
