Comments As our first dive trip since the pandemic (unfortunately still not over), and as our first travel to Belize, this was planned to cover both mainland and atoll diving: 1 week @ Hamanasi, 1 week @Turneffe. Both of us (husband and wife team) have been fully vaccinated and Belize seems to be keeping the pandemic under control. Vaccine cards were accepted, but while still in the country, entry requirement was changed so that negative PCR test for everyone is required for entry, given the Delta variant surging in parts of the world. Both resorts excelled in following health protocols, and glad to say, we returned home safe and sound.

American Airlines canceled our return segment from Dallas last minute, and the airport was a mess. We decided to pay for our own hotel so we could snatch a few hours of sleep and did not join the hundreds of angry passengers lined up to argue with the airline staff. We found an alternative flight online, not allowing the incident to spoil an otherwise wonderful trip.

The two resorts are different as are the diving, and we are very glad we went to both. We are not familiar with Caribbean diving and this was a refreshing experience. Everything exceeded our expectations. We are ready to go again, and as long as the pandemic is still ongoing, and more distant destinations are still off-limits, Belize is definitely one of our top choice destinations for now. However, given the airline situation (labor shortage, cancellations, etc.) we will only fly nonstop from now on.

UW Photo Comments Hamanasi has a bigger dive boat, cameras were carefully handled, water bucket provided.
Turneffe has a small boat, no bucket, but large water tank on shore. Cameras were carefully handled and the lack of boat facilities did not matter as surface interval is always back at the resort.
