Comments My husband and I absolutely LOVED our week’s stay and diving at Isla Marisol! We seek out places off the beaten track; places that are naturally beautiful and still comfortable. Diving Glovers Reef has been on my bucket list of dive destinations since I became certified in 1985. Back then, staying out there would have meant camping and roughing it. Here we are thirty plus years later and we finally discover Isla Marisol!
This is a little island paradise. All the staff are very warm and welcoming; the accommodations are rustic but very comfortable, quiet and clean. The meals were plentiful and deliciously home cooked authentic Belizean style with lots of fresh fish. We watched birds and schools of fish in the shallow waters in front of the cabana (Cabana 3) every morning over coffee. We had an opportunity to meet and talk with Eddie Usher, the owner, and learned much about Belize and some of the island’s history.
Our diving was outstanding- tons of fishes, healthy reefs. The dive boats were pretty basic but you won't spend much time in them; the dive sites are so close that you can spend your time relaxing instead of taking long boat trips. All drift dives in pretty mild current. You have to take a 90min boat trip out to the island and unfortunately the bigger boat that they use for this purpose was in dry dock getting some repairs so we travelled to the island on a dive boat with no overhead cover, so we got wet from the waves and a squall that came through. No big deal for us though; it was part of the experience. Our Divemasters Mora and Zoe (also an Instructor) did a superb job of showing us around the reefs and giving us time to explore and photograph. Our Boat Captains Seth, Douglas and Thomas all took such excellent care of us.
We were truly spoiled by the staff during our stay. What an amazing island getaway! Our only regret is that it has taken us so long to discover you! Thank you Isla Marisol- we will be back!

UW Photo Comments There is a rinse tank at the dive shop for camera equipment but no camera room. When we were there, there was a fair amount of silt in the water due to weather- storms and winds, so you have to be careful about backscatter. Tons of free swimming nurse sharks that seemed curious of divers.
