Comments This was a relaxed diving vacation in calm water with enough exciting encounters for me. The reef sharks were used to being fed Lionfish so approached us close which was fun and the morays were a bit agressive in swimming at us in the hope of lionfish feeds. There were plenty of turtles and nurse sharks and a good number of reef fish including groupers who fought each other dramatically. The Blue Hole was for me deep and tedious and that was on a good viz day!

The first day I was concerned to be told that the lodge was sprayed twice daily with a mosquito repellant which did no harm to anything else which of course does not exist and turned out to be DDT. The managers and their family agreed that it was DDT but later denied this when I reported it on TripAdviser, saying that DDT was illegal in Belize. They were not very truthful about the behaviour of the sharks and morays which was of course related to lionfish feeding. Our wonderful Boat captain looked like a pirate and was skillful and cheerful. The boat was used for transfers so no diving on Wednesday or Saturday which wasn't mentioned.

The lodge was a bit noisy from the generator which went off and on all night so if you depended on a fan to sleep you would wake every time it went off. Snoring of other guests could disturb sleep. Food was bland.
