Comments | Ramon's Village is a gorgeous, beautifully maintained tropical resort right on the beach. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant on the premises was very beautiful and the meals were quite delicious and well presented. Dinner tended to be a bit pricey but, since we didn't get back from diving until 2 or after, we ate a big lunch and then had a glass of wine and snack later in the evening. It worked well to stretch the budget. We also walked into town via the beach and enjoyed several meals. The choices are endless. As for the diving, the weather was very windy when we arrived so visibility was quite reduced. A few days later, it was very calm so the water became remarkably clear. With almost 400 dives, we were very upset when the dive-master called time on the dives at 45 minutes. This happened on a 3-tank trip to an outer atoll that we paid an extra premium for. Since most of the dives are in 60-80 feet of water, that meant going up with a half tank of air. This came as a shock, since Ramon's advertises and promotes itself as a "dive resort" in all the dive magazines and dive travel websites. Believe me I'll be doing my homework better for future trips. Salvation came in the form of Turiano, a wonderful Mexican dive-master with an awesome sense of humor, who truly loves diving and was happy to let everyone dive until the tanks were empty. He and the lovely group of people that were with us for the rest of the week completely saved the trip. Since, they feed the nurse sharks, this is the place to see free-swimming sharks and green moray eels on almost every dive. Editing the GoPro footage was a real challenge. | ||
