Comments I spent 4 days at Turneffe Flats during a longer trip to Belize. While I've visited Belize many times this was my first trip to Turneffe. I was able to do 8 dives over 3 days, 6 at dive sites around Turneffe Atoll and 2 at Lighthouse Reef Atoll.

The resort is beautiful, with nice acomodations and common area and excellent service. Food was great as was the attitude of the staff. The resort seems to cater more to fly fishermen than to divers, which was fine by me as our dive group was small - two other divers, both experienced, and myself. Our divemaster, Ruben Navidad was excellent. He chose dive sites based the weather and currents and as such was able to take us to sites with the best visibility. Dive briefings were good and he was attentive throughout the dives without cramping our style. My only quibble was his insistence on feeding speared lionfish to nurse sharks; a practice which is frowned upon elsewhere. Dives at Turneffe Atoll were excellent, offering some of Belize's best dive sites. All three of us divers had dove the Blue Hole previously, so we gladly skipped that on the day we went to Lighthouse Reef, diving other sites there instead. I was saddened to see the extent of Stoney Coral Tissue Loss Disease there and its effect on what I think are some of the best reefs in Belize.

On the whole an excellent trip.
