Comments | [This resort is located on a small island 35 miles from the mainland. The Resort Staff met us at the airport and took us to the Radisson for Lunch before taking us to board the boat to take to the resort. It was a 1 1/2 hour trip to get from Belize City to Turniffe Island. The resort is designed for Divers and Fishermen and they do an excellent job with both. The Resort is small 20 or so rooms. Rooms are large, Clean with a screened-in porch facing the water and a awesome outdoor shower. Meals are served in the dining area and are at set times. The food was very good and plentiful. Meals were included but the bar was ale carte or $ 300 for all you could drink for the week. The Bar Tender Jorge was very personable and had numerous amazing card tricks. The diving included 15 dives per week. Most dives were with-in 10 minutes of the resort and surface intervals were done back at the resort. I have read other reviews that stated that bottom times and depths were limited but we didn't see that. We had very small groups, 5 was the most we had and there were usually just 4 of us. They stated recommended depths but were very lenient on both depth and time. They wanted each diver starting up at 750 PSI and most of our dives were well over an hour long. The reefs and walls were in good shape and the fish live has very good . They have a 3 tank all day trip to the Blue Hole. The Blue Hole was very disappointing. There are so many divers that dive this site including a lot that shouldn't. The sides are very silty and with the number of divers and the lack of water movement in the hole, visibility was pretty bad. The 2nd dive was at Half Moon Caye Wall and it was one of the best dives of the week. We saw numerous Reef & Lemon Sharks and the wall was in very good shape. We then had lunch on Half Moon Caye including Fried Chicken and all the fixings. The final dive of the day was at Long Island wall and it was a very good dive also so the day was worth doing. The resort offers Fishing including deep sea, Spinner Reel and Fly Rods and all the fishermen there were raving about the fishing and the Guides. I was talking to one of the Fishing Guides during a surface interval and mentioned I would like to try Fly Fishing and he got a Rod and we waded out into the water and he gave me a Fly Casting Lesson and let me give it a try . I can't recommend this operation enough and can't wait to go back. ] | ||

UW Photo Comments | [The boats were small with not much facilities for Cameras. When they saw mine they got a cooler, filled it with fresh water and were very helpful getting in and out of the water. The facilities on the dock were nice with a large Camera Only Rinse Tank.] |
