Comments TIF is a wonderful but expensive small resort. If you have the money it is worth it. We met a guest on 8th+ trip. There are single rooms or villas. Meals are at shared tables much like a liveaboard. The food was all local to Belize & delicious and travelers with diet restrictions were well accommodated. Alcohol is extra but beverage packages can be purchased.

Several guests split their time between diving and fishing and raved about both. The resort is peaceful with lots of hammocks and lounging areas. The rooms are beautiful with Belize hardwood throughout. There is no TV but they have better Wifi than expected.

Diving operation was well run. Other than 1 blue hole trip all dive sites are only 10-15 min from dock. Two small wooden boats went out with a captain and a dive master. Groups varied from a max of 6 to just 2. Divemaster puts gear on you. Entry is back roll. Dives 2-3 per day 60 min, group stays together. Exits-remove gear in water and captain pulled it out. Then go to the ladder & hand up fins & climb a 3 steps. We had no problems on our boat but other group had older diver lose grip on boat after he took off his fins. (OK but scared). We did have 15-20mph wind and some chop but good vis.

LOGGER HEAD MATTING SEASON! Great encounters with these guys (mostly male) on almost every dive. Healthy reefs for the Caribbean with large sponges. The Elbow is very close to the resort. Lots of lobsters and green morays moving during the day and one octopus. White spotted moray, white spotted toad fish & scorpion fish. Nurse sharks, eagle and southern sting rays. Nassau and marble grouper and many types of snapper were seen on most dives. Lion hunting with Hawaiian sling was taught and encouraged. (Wanted to be good at it but we are better spotters). Only one night dive per week and it was a disappointment. One free swimming white spotted moray, some larval forms, big eyes and sleeping reef fish. Saw more night time creature during the day.
School of dolphins on the surface but not while diving

The bad: Not the place to go if you want 4-5 dives/day. The Blue hole trip had choppy conditions but TIF is much closer than other land based resort that are not on Turneffe. I lost a camera. Still don't quite know where I left it or what/ who happened. But staff and management took it very seriously.

UW Photo Comments No camera rinse bucket on the small boats but separate rinse buckets on dock 10-20 min after dive. Camera is handed to you in the water.
Great dives to photo and video loggerhead turtles.
Most divers while we were their were using go-pro and not large rigs.
My lost camera was a 2 yr sealife with strobe and macro lens basic but was working well and I loved that strobe.
