Comments The diving was good. We did a lot of dives right off Captain Don's dock. As usual there were clouds of tropicals everywhere. Even saw an octopus and eagle ray, also turtles near the dock. The small fishing boat that used to regularly tie up to the wrecked tugboat was noticeable absent this year. We saw some medium sized groupers and snappers that have been absent in previous years, maybe due to the absence fishing? Only saw one lionfish. The hard and soft corals are in bad shape, like just about everywhere. For whatever reason the water was really "murked up" this trip.

We tried to pay the "Visitor Entry Tax" on line as instructed, but the payment wouldn't process, so we ended up having get in yet another line and pay at the airport. We heard other people commenting that they couldn't pay online either.
We stayed in a bungalow and were very satisfied with the accommodations.

The locker room is a disaster area. We've been going to Bonaire since the 1990s and it's the exact same amount of space and lockers. It's dingy, dark with uneven flooring. Several of the lockers have broken doors and hasps rendering them useless. I can't imagine what will happen when the new buildings are completed! There absolutely isn't room for any more divers to gear up. A locker room redo should have happened BEFORE anymore new rooms were added. I was told they are in the planning stage for a new locker room.

As far as airports/airlines go, its hard to know where to begin. In Bonaire, the American and Delta flights both arrived and departed within about a half hour of each other. Needless to say, this resulted in bottlenecks of monumental proportions!
For whatever reason, Bonaire has reduced the amount of airconditioned indoor space in the departure area. There is now additional seating outside (hot).
On our return flight, we sat on the taxiway for over an hour because there was no gate for us to use.
Then out of ATL on our final leg home, we were an hour late taking off we were waiting to get pushed back from the gate and just waiting in line to take off.
