Comments This was our 7th trip to Divi Flamingo, with our local dive shop, Wateree Dive Center, Columbia, S.C. Bonaire is still my overall favorite place to dive . Delta Airlines flies directly to Bonaire on Saturdays from Atlanta and this is a definite improvement over Air Jamaica through Montego Bay.We stayed at Divi Flamingo and the rooms were adequate, clean and the staff was generally friendly. We had a package to eat breakfast and then lunch and dinner were on our own. Lunch was generally at the Chibi Chibi on site and was good and relatively fast in service. Dinner was a walk to town, about 15 minutes at most and was excellent at several different restaurants.

The diving was excellent. The coral was healthy and fish were plentiful. Didn't see any large pelagics, but turtles were common and rays were seen also. Sea horses were also seen at several sites. Klein Bonaire was nice with healthy coral and fishlife. Bonaire has done it right with a marine park and it shows what conservation can do. The reefs look much healthier and more fish life than in Curacao. Shore diving in front of the hotel is easy and surprisingly very good. It is a great place to do a night dive, since you can't get lost, and no current. Plenty of tarpons were seen at night also.

The dive boats are good and the staff is excellent. Alvin is a superb dive leader and took time to show many critters to everyone. The staff has always been among the best in the Caribbean and there are many who have been there for a number of years.

Going back through customs and immigration in Atlanta is always a hassle and we had several pieces of luggage not make it back to Columbia on our flight, due to a small jet, but we got it the next day.

We look forward to returning to Bonaire next year.
