Comments We have been diving on Bonaire since 1984 and stay at a Divi Flamingo in a Time-Share. The island is beautiful and the people the same. We have always felt safe and welcome on Bonaire. We have gotten to know the wait staff and the dive masters and staff over the years.
The dive operation is first class. They can handle a large number of divers, but the dock never seems crowded due to the efficient scheduling of boat departures. I was not attached to a dive group, but never had any difficulty getting a boat to the reef. Very professional dive masters and drivers. The management staff at the dive shop did a great job with repairs and equipment rental. Serge De Groote and Alvin Clemencia are very personable and professional.
The time shares are due for remodeling in 2019. The food is very good. Two restaurants are on the premises. The town is a half mile walk form the hotel.
The reefs are healthy and there are a lot of little things. There are fewer frog fishes, seahorses and grouper than when we first started diving. There are fewer lionfish also.
The island is developing a sewer system to avoid the septic tank - contamination issues and the reefs will prosper.
This is an ideal location for easy diving and wonderful people and warm weather.

UW Photo Comments Macro capital of the Caribbean. Not much large stuff, but great sponges and coral heads and a few piers with schools of grunts and snapper. I used a 60 mm macro lens on a Nikon D800 in an Ikelite housing with dual strobes for the critters and a 20 mm lens with dome port for the piers, purple tube sponges and models (my children)
