Comments I have been going back to Bonaire every year for the past six years and have enjoyed it almost every time. About three years ago the government changed the currency from Dutch Florens to the US Dollar that made everything more expensive especially for the people who live and work on Bonaire. There has been a feeling of unhappiness among the people and you really can’t blame them. Having said that I love the people there as they are not pretentious or unfriendly. We have never felt unsafe there, I have had my kids there with us and never had a problem. We have always stayed at the Divi Flamingo resort in the timeshare residence although we do not have a timeshare. (We have also never had the high pressure sales pitches) The dive operation is top quality five boats with all the safety gear you would expect. The crew are all dive masters and are fun, knowledgeable, approachable and helpful. The rental equipment is cared for and pretty up to date. A boat trip to almost any dive site is not more than 45mins. away and most are considerably less. Expect to see parrot fish, lion fish, green Morays, Octopus, seahorse, beautiful corals, fans. Divi dive is reasonably priced operation I highly recommend it.
