Comments We dove 6 boat dives with Toucan and 2 with Larry's Wild Side. Toucan took us to interesting dive sites. At each, we were given an hour's bottom time. A dive master went in with the divers, but you were allowed to do your own dive without the dive master. While there are few large fish, it was like diving in an aquarium. Clear water, heathly coral and tons of smaller reef fish. We saw many different eels, lots of spotted drum, a few turtle and a spotted eagle ray. We saw a bait ball on a shore dive, squid and octopus. This was wonderful, relaxed diving.
Larry's Wild Side is a different experience. More surge and the water is more turbid, but in return, you see larger fish and how the fish act in water in motion. From what we read about Larry, it sounded like the diving would be a military operation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Each of the rules Larry has are related your your safety in what can be rough conditions. Larry's fills were all over 3000 PSI and he requires that you stay with his dive master so that he can make a safe pick-up at the end of the dive. I would dive with him again and recommend this dive to everyone.
Plaza Resort is a family friendly place in very good repair. Rooms were spacious and the food service good, but very slow. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The Resort is 5 minutes from town.
