Comments "Bonaire Shore Diving Made Easy" is a great guide for dive planning. Like the Salt Pier dive better than the Town Pier night dive. Pod of 12-15 dolphins cruised by Alice in Wonderland, heard them before we saw them. Freedom of shore diving is awesome. Grab your tanks and go wherever you want. The people are teh best as well. The folks at Carib Inn tweaked a misbehaving Mares Octo for nothing. And I can't say enough about how helpful Water Planet and FishEye Photo were (see UWP comments).
Awesome hard and soft corals, sponges, etc. Lots of reef fish, but not huge diversity. Some bigger critters down south thanks to currents probably. Saw a great little frog fish at Witches hut, but no seahorses. Told another couple about the frog fish and they found him the next day. Wannadive tank process and storage at Eden Rock worked well.
We stayed in one of the Golden Reef Inn studios. Comfortable, basic accomodations. We're low maintenance so it worked great for us. Walked 2 blocks to the main Inn for breakfast with Giby each morning. Enjoy his company and ask questions, he will set you up. His Tuesday dinner party is one of the best deals going, if he has room. Would stay with Golden Reef again. Shouarma from the stand at the Sand Dollar market makes a great lunch at great price. Some folks mentioned high food prices. We asked dive staff where they ate and got some great value recommendations. Try Mi Bananna, huge fish plate for $12-$15 with local flavor.
We will be going back. Since you dive out of the back of your rental truck not sure if its worth paying the diff for a waterfront resort??

UW Photo Comments We had trouble with our strobe and stumbled across Tim at FishEye Photo, who was a huge help. Ultimately he didn't have a compatible strobe for our system and suggested the folks at Water Planet might be able to help us. Muriel at WaterPlanet LOANED me her Ikelite strobe for 3 days, and saved our photo dives. Took a 1/2 day class with Tim. Well worth it and the least we could do after all the time he spent troubleshooting with us!
