Comments Let’s start with the weather. One thing I’ve learned about diving in the Caribbean in the winter is it tends to be very windy. This has happened to me in the Bahamas, and it happened again on this trip in the Caymans. The captain said that the winds were even worse in November and December. The Cayman Aggressor could not even use their normal docking location. It was too windy there. Instead, they had to use a docking area on the other side of the island. The practical effect of these winds was that we could not get to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. We spent the whole week at Grand Cayman.

Being restricted to Grand Cayman is not really a bad thing. The Island has plenty of excellent dive sites including some excellent wreck dives. Water clarity was also very good the entire week. We had visibility from about 80 to 100 feet on most of the dives. There were a few deep dives on some walls, but most of the dives were shallow reefs in the 40-to-50-foot range with the usual mixture of fish and coral species that are common to the region. Water temperature was consistently in the lower 80s.
