Comments We rented a house on the southwest shore through VRBO, and they happened to have a house copy of the Cayman Brac shore diving guide. This guide made a huge difference in our ability to locate the best shore entries (though a few were marked by signs).

Brac Scuba Shack was reasonably priced and easy to deal with. Stay close to the west end for easier access to the shop to exchange tanks.

There are many spectacular close-in sites with easy entries, especially on the north shore, but watch out for fast-moving boats. Many sites had spur and groove topography. We were also able to swim out to the famous "Keith Tibbetts" wreck of the Russian vessel and had it to ourselves late one afternoon -- a goliath grouper and a turtle made an appearance.
On most dives we saw turtles, stingrays, spotted eagle rays, barracuda, Nassau grouper, and large conch moving across the sand. On the night snorkel we did on our last night we saw two octopi.

The whole island is barely 12 miles long and has virtually no crime. We were advised that we could just leave the keys in the car and go diving, and this proved to be true!!!
