Comments After 2 years of pandemic no scuba, I had a vacation week and wanted to get in the water and take my new u/w camera and get it and me dialed in. Was looking for minimal wetsuit need, reasonably accessible time and price wise from CA. Cayman Brac had past trip fond memories, so decided to give United airline LAX thru Houston a try. Made 3 dives a day with Brac Scuba Shack. Excellent boat set up, good captains and deck hands delivered concierge level service. Respectful of cameras. They run a very nice operation with respect for the environment and the guests.

The reefs were healthy and in great shape by Caribbean standards. The fish were not giant schools, but the variety was well above expectations. No shortage of critters for pictures. The several wrecks had a lot of life and photo opportunities. The outstanding visibility and sunny days gave great blue backgrounds to my photos. One day we dove on the "other side" of the island, entered from the small boat ramps that are nicely set up for divers getting in the water, parking, one place had outdoor showers and restroom, and the reef formations were different - nice diversity.

I will go back to Cayman Brac soon, and dive with Brac Scuba Shack again. Liesel, Martin, Harry and Brad are pros and provided extra care with a smile for this older diver with a big camera rig. The dives are well worth another trip. It's really nice to go someplace where the locals are glad to see tourist divers, initiate conversations with you, there is no need to lock the car, and the prices are fair for value received. The dose of "Cayman Nice" was a wonderful way to get my gills wet.

Water bottles, water, dry packaged snacks provided for each half day trip.

UW Photo Comments There was plenty of opportunity to shoot nice pictures. It was great environment for learning my new Sony A7c camera in a Nauticam housing. Brad Wilbourn, boat captain is also an accomplished photographer, uses Nauticam housing, and helpful. The boat could use more camera space if everyone was a shooter.
