Comments So excited to be on board the new Cayman Aggressor. What an awesome dive deck. No knocking into other guests. No wet suits smacking you in the head as they were hanging mid deck and easy to reach. I think I would like a dry box at seating area instead of small little holes in wall by salon door. If you are standing at the cubby and people are going in and out the salon door you have to keep moving.
Salon is on the same deck. Lots of seating area to the point I thought there was a lot of wasted space. The steps to the lower level is in the salon. We had cabin 7 next to engine room. Not bad. First thoughts on entering into cabin...no closet, no drawers, no doors on clothes cabinets. We ended up liking it. By not having drawers under beds gave us plenty of room for dive bag and other dive gear. Was worried clothes would fall out of "cubbies" for lack of doors. But because they had carpeted the cubbies everything stayed in place. However for a short person I had to get on bed to reach things. Night stand had two drawers and a lock box. In 28 years of diving liveaboards I have never felt the need for a lock box. I think a raised edge on night stand would be helpful for keeping things from rolling off. It was nice having a larger port hole. Awesome, large bathroom and shower. The second level had a really nice seating area outside of dining room. Dining area was good but always hot. The top level, sundeck and small shaded area. Would like to see a larger shaded area for those that don't love the sun.
We were not able to reach Little Cayman therefore all diving was done on Grand Cayman. Got to dive on the southern end of island, which had been a long time since we had dove that area. Conditions have to be just right. Corals not in good condition around the island. Lots of algae and dead coral which I contribute to HUGE cruise ships stirring up sediment which smothers the corals.
Last but not least the crew: Most where brand new to Grand Cayman. Matt, Andrew, Kerry, Capt Randy, O'Neil. It was good to see Latoya and Aubori.
My husband came down with a cold the last few days of trip and for the first time in 30 years of diving I dove without him due to Matt talking me into diving with him. He was great. Nice and slow. I felt very comfortable with him. Then Aubori talked me into doing the next dive with her on the Doc Poulson. It was another wonderful dive. Capt Randy was very friendly and funny. Had fun with him. Enjoyed talking with him. He took very good care of all the guests.
The boat, as nice as it was, seemed to have been rushed through commissioning. Therefore some of the detailing was in poor shape. One guest thought it was an old boat because of terrible paint job. Wondering where this boat was built??
All dives are good and this was no exception. Missed the sharks which were few and far between. Little blennies and yellow headed jaw fish abundant, one with eggs. Free swimming morays, lobsters etc.
Can't wait to return and hopefully get to Little Cayman for pristine diving.
