Comments We have been diving The Brac and Little since 1998. Last December Travel Cayman allowed us to enter the country December 8th and quarantine for 15 days on Brac at the house we normally rent for February-March.We went over to Little on January 2nd and stayed at Paradise Villas, which, unlike all the other resorts, never shut down. Little Cayman divers stayed open as well and we, perhaps the only true tourists on the island, dove with the locals, property owner expats and staycationers from Grand. Sites which were used to having up to nine boatloads of divers several times a day were deserted. Fish behaviors changed quickly. Sharks on every dive, often close. The little guys were less skittish.
Conch Club Divers is now Little Cayman Divers having relocated from CC to the Admin Building at Paradise Villas. Doug managed to stay afloat and has just returned from Grand with a new bottom paint job and is diving whenever he has customers. The Caymans officially opened for business on Nov. 20th. Check [exploregov.ky link]
for measures necessary for entry. We return Jan.8th via Cayman Air, at this time the best bet for getting there. If you want to dive as if it were 1975, probably the last time so few divers have been in the water, now is your chance. Liesel and Martin at Brac Scuba Shack put their boats in the water last week and are also open should you wish to dive both islands, a seven minute flight apart.
Jacques Cousteau rated Bloody Bay one of the ten best in the world. Still is.
