Comments Coral is really suffering on Grand Cayman. I chose East End for some non-diving friends where we could also dive. Almost all elkhorn is dead. Algae on reef everywhere. Not many sponges. Still fish to look at, and George the divemaster took us through some cool swimthroughs with silversides and feeding trevally. The North side was better. But I was shocked by the condition of the reef and I am interested to know if it is poor at Little Cayman and Cayman Brac as well. The dive shop did not have much to say, as they cannot fix it, but it is painful to see. One site had a patrolling pair of Black-tip reef sharks, and we saw a few others. No eagle rays or sting rays.
