Comments Our trip over was uneventful but coming back an equipment malfunction on the Otter kept part of our group in Grand Cayman for two extra nights. We found LCBR to be as we left it last time, in excellent condition except for a few minor things. Rooms were awesome, we like 115 so we can see the view as we get up. I don't even remember LCBR having safes, but this time I should have used it. An incident occurred that was swiftly resolved by the management but use the safe. I still consider it safer than anywhere else I have been.

The food at the resort was very good. There were cracks in that too but certainly not objectionable overall.

The first boat we were on only had one ladder. It was not an issue for us, there were only 12 of us. But it was one of the minor cracks that appeared. That boat had an engine malfunction and had to go to Grand for repairs. We were put on the Cayman Sister, one of the older boats, and the head didn't work, though it did have two ladders. My wife loves the hammocks and she still did but the thatch was missing from part of the covering putting one of them in the sun. We always like to sit on the elevated deck out on the docks and count the stars. The benches were gone this year. Not a big deal but another small crack in the operation. I can only assume that they are some leftover issues from the covid shutdown. They put us on the south side for one afternoon dive, I can only assume that it was because of the slow boat, but with Bloody Bay and Jackson Bay a short boat ride away, we convinced them not to do that again.

The dive operation was awesome as always. David, a Frenchman that learned English in Scotland and a Kari, a Finn really did an awesome job taking care of our aging group.

The soft coral, flora and fauna on most of the dive sites were pristine and many of them had healthy hard corals. But when we went to Pauls Anchor and Coconut Walk I wanted to cry. Other than small patches those mountainous stands of hard coral were dead. It is so sad.

As we took off and made our turn leaving the island, I saw the distinctive pattern of the beginnings of a subdivision. I hope mistook it, but probably not.

Little Cayman is my favorite place in this hemisphere. We are 72 and slowly drifting toward the end of 44 years of diving. As the reefs decline, maybe its time for it to end anyway.
