Comments My second visit to Cocos Island. What was good? I couldnt fault the boat or crew, Okeanos aggressor II isnt a new boat but the interior seems to have been refurbished. Food was consistently good as was the dive operations. Cocos diving did not however live up to its stellar reputation. No schooling Hammerheads were seen at any location, only individual hammers were sporadically seen, and it wasnt until the last day that a large tiger shark was seen at big dos Amigos, and some largish Galapagos sharks at small Dos Amigos. Some impressive yellow fin tuna were seen at Manuelita outside, and again at Alcyone hunting at the surface, wahoo were also seen at Dirty Rock and Alcyone. The inshore dive sites such as Pajara Island, Manta Point and Viking rock were frankly boring and difficult dives due to strong surge and marginal visibility. Frogfish were seen at Manuelita inside . Highlight of the week was a 12 foot plus manta at Alcyone. Overall the trip was OK but didnt reach the very high expectations I had of Cocos.
