Comments It was late may and maybe not the best time of year for diving the Playa Coco area. The water was murky on local dives and vis was low.not many tropicals seen on local dives or anything else for that matter!a couple of nurse sharks were about it!
We changed to Rocket Frogs in Playa Ocotal next door town.Arranged to go to Catalina's islands which took a couple of days due to needing enough divers for trip!Catalinas was the best diving of the trip, but not great diving.there were king angel fish trying there best to eat all of sergeant major eggs clustered around rocks.a few big nurse sharks and one huge pacific stingray.
Last dive day was a trip to Bat Island which also took several days to arrange due to needing enough divers..this was a 160.00 trip including park fees for two tanks.it is a 60 to 75 minute trip from playa coco area and waters tend to be choppy for a rough ride.Rocket frog has the fastest boat in the area and the largest boat that may cut that time and smoothe the ride also.we were supposed to see mantas and bull sharks!unfortunately the trip was a bust!seen none of this or anything else.wish I could say more good things about the diving, but just can't.Im sure there are better times of the year to dive here according to previous undercurrent articles. The Catalina's showed the best potential for diving on this trip.Maybe more southern itinerary towards Drakes Bay will produce better diving.
