Comments Overall Comments: Small dive boat - had to carry tanks from dive shop to boat. Dive Master was top notch. This is an an all inclusive resort with a one tank dive starting at 40$ CUC (approx. 44 $CAD). It is defintely extremely cost effective to book a package here (direct flights from Montreal, Toronto, London...etc.) even if you take the odd overnight excursion somewhere else and waste a night of prepaid accomodation. Diving was extremely well run - top notch dive masters. Saw Baracudas, tame Groupers (most fish are extremely approachable in Cuba) turtles, very photogentic octopus (not shy), baracudas, lots of lion fish and big Moray eels, and tons of Angels, Blue Tangs...etc. Did not see a shark but the general fish life and corals are very impressive.
Snorkelling here is very poor from the shore - forget about it unless you take a boat.
What I would change: Book airfare for two weeks and accomodation (all-inclusive) for only one week as part of a modified package. Get car rental lined up well in advance (it's extremely difficult in Cuba to find a car on the fly - anywhere inside the country) as part of the package. You'll save tons of money and have 1/2 luxury vacation and 1/2 adventure vacation as you discover many great dive operations outside of the tourist spots.
