Comments This was our first trip to Curacao. We stayed with Habitat and did most of our diving with Easy Divers at Habitat. The dive op was good for what they did, which was only as much as they had to do. This is not valet diving, which is fine as I prefer to tend to my own gear, but divers looking for valet service will not find it at Habitat. Inst/DMs led/trailed the dives, but did little other than swim along with you. The house reef at Habitat is good and worth several shore dives to explore. We did make a day trip to Westpunt to dive with Ocean Encounters West and do their house reef "Alice in Wonderland" as well as do the Watamula drift dive. In my opinion, these are the two best dives on the island. If we go again, we will stay in Westpunt and do our diving with OEW and applicable shore diving around the island. OEW runs a first class operation and Andreas is not to be beat! The manager Bryan, accomodated us on short notice with the Watamula dive after responding to our post on an Internet forum. Habitat's lodging according to Internet forums is undergoing a facelift due to a recent purchase. It looked freshly painted outside, and the rooms themselves are spartan, no bedspreads, minimal towels, but very clean. The landscaping/upkeep needs alot of work. The furniture on the porches and balconies are in desperate need of replacement looking soiled, worn and delapidated. While we were there they started the reconstruction of the beach with bulldozers and dumptrucks running most of the work day. The food was good, nothing spectacular, but you won't go hungry. Service is typical for island locales.
