Comments I dove here about 10 years ago and was surprised to see that many of my previous favorite dive sites weren't as beautiful as I remembered. That having been said, I still love this place. My favorite dive sites: Puerto Maria, Watamula, Sponge City.

I stayed at the Marriott the first time. This time, I went with an all inclusive called Sunset Waters. Sunset Waters didn't have as many frills as the Marriott, but the service was always very friendly (it was also a little slow). It's about an hour from Willemstad. There is a shore dive at the resort which didn't have great viz in the afternoons but it had a couple cool seahorses and a frogfish that made it well worth the dive.

This is a great island for shore diving, just make sure you rent a car if that's what interests you.

Enforced diving restrictions Be back on the boat in an hour. The dive shop policy was that we're all certified so we can dive to whatever depth we want. They did make recommendations (usually 60 feet), which I followed and I was never disappointed.

UW Photo Comments One of the boats was very small and made large camera set-ups a bit
challenging. The other boat was very spacious, but there was no shelf on which to place the camera. You could hold it, place it in the fresh water rinse, or bring your own basket on the boat for storage. There was room under the bench seats to put a basket.

On the dock, they had a big trash barrel for cameras, which they kept
covered to ensure that no other gear was dunked in it.

I was on the small boat most of the trip and the annoying lack of space was an easy sacrifice for the beautiful diving.
