Comments Travel time is boring, long lay overs, escially in Nadi, you arrive from LAX at 5.30 am, the flight out is midday, you can not check your bags until 11am, but Sun Air will allow you to leave them behind the desk.Either get your travel agent to book a day room at the TokaToka resort, very nice place or grab a taxi to go into the town, theres nothing at the airport to do.

You can only take one checked bag for each person in the group and one piece of hand luggage for the group, the rrest will be charged for, tell them you have dive gear, the normal weight limit is 15 kilos, 20 for divers, saves you a few dollars, as we found out, put all the heavy gear in one piece of carry on, there scales arent set the same, Nadi weighed less for less weight in Kadavu to come back, the scales arent calibrated and it also depends on the person doing the weighing.

The flight to Kadavu is noisy, very small plane, the runway is short and the airport is just a shack, looks like someones house.

You will have to look for the resort staff at the airport, they dont make themselves very noticable, the boat ride is about 10 mins.

The resort makes you feel very welcome,The rooms are large, nice steel cage outside for the dive gear ,but are a bit on the small side for 2 sets of gear, dont leave noything out side your room unattended as it will go missing. There are showers outside each room to rinse off and a rinse tub.
The rooms have ceiling fans, very hot water, they also have australian 3 pin sockets, different to the british 3 pin sockets, also a nice safe for the valuables.

The resort staff are very friendley, remember your names as soon as you arrive, food is excellant, especially the Lovo, the traditional Fijian feast, cooked under ground and served on a bed of bread fruit tree leaves which you also use as plates.

The diving wasnt as good as I expected, the breifings are sub standard, a few dives against the current, we were taken to sites that werent that good, they want alot more money to go to the best sites, seems the norm these days, there wsa no sodas or water on the boat, only hot tea and coffee to have at the surface interval on a local beach.

The tanks look out of date for visual and hydro testing, they are filledon the boat not in any water to cool them down, its extra for afternoon dives and night dives, but they wont take you to the best site even for night dives.

Becare when you book, you have to pay extra to snorkell off the dive boat, even when there are divers on it, water and sodas are extra, nothing is free at this resort except the kayaks, shore diving sucks, basically ther isnt any, unless you take a kayak and dive off that, shore snorkelling is great.

The owners Bob and Rena make you feel like familly, managers Scott and Leslie make you feel like little children, especially when diving, they are very new to this game, they even make the dive masters look small and embarass them infront of the guests.

Find out as much as you can before you go, prices etc as it can add an extra 5-700 dollars to your bill.

Its a nice place otherwise.
