Comments The resort is very good, accommodation and setting were great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Service and attitude were great, and food was good as well. It was a great cultural experience.

Diving at the Rainbow Reef was very good. Not close to Raja Ampat, but way better than at the Caribbean. There were plenty of corals, and they were very colorful and healthy. We have not noticed any coral bleaching. Variety of anemones was the greatest we've ever seen. Many of them were quite unusual (to us). One day, on our way to the Rainbow Reef we met a pod of dolphins, and another day – a pod of pilot whales.

The Rainbow Reef is quite far from the resort – about 40 min by boat. Considering the distance, we usually did 3 dives in the morning-early afternoon, starting at about 7:00 - 7:30, and then we had a late lunch and a free the rest of the day.

Dive operation was not at par with the resort itself at the time of our visit. They advertised their dive boats as five star boats, but what we got was barely 3 stars. Most of days we were on a small fishing boat, not equipped for diving. They said that their big boat (of 26 divers capacity) was on a repair at the time of our visit.

It appears that they do not have good full-time guides, which could be problematic (if not dangerous) as diving the Rainbow Reef could be very challenging at certain tide conditions. For us they called a freelance guide, Wilson, who was our very good guide for 5 days. Be sure to ask for Wilson or Papa as your dive guides.

3 stars for environmental sensitivity is for discarding overboard all organic leftovers from snacks between dives.

We did not use any of our 3 night dives included in the package, as the feedback from other divers was not very exciting. Also, I did not do any shore diving, even though it was available.
We did not do snorkeling, but an Australian couple who was with us on the boat a few time said that on some sites they had the best snorkeling they’d ever had.

I did direct booking with the resort, and found their packages quite cumbersome, not typical I’ve ever experienced at other diver resorts. It took a lot of back and force to get what I wanted (i.e. a number of days and a number of dives). Be patient with the reservation, and keep records of what you agreed on.
