Comments My wife and I spent 3 weeks diving in Fiji. We used Sea Fiji Travel (www.seafiji.com) to book the trip. All flights, connections, ground transportation, and bookings were flawless. Reports are filed separately for the other two weeks (Marlin Bay and Fiji Aggressor). The first week we stayed in Taveuni at Coconut Grove Resort (www.coconutgrovefiji.com). Fantastic accomodations, service and food - very intimate setting, private beach. My wife and I were the only people on the beach, walking in the moonlight. The food was plentiful and delicious. We could not get enough of the Dahl soup or the Rou Rou soup. Sadly, we forgot to get the recipes. We definitely want to go back. We would have easily enjoyed spending all three weeks here. While this resort is not specifically a divers destination, Ronna (the owner) will accomdate diver's schedules and even fix a box lunch if requested or hold the kitchen open if you have a late return.

Our Taveuni diving was with Swiss Fiji Divers (www.swissfijidivers.com) (a $2FD cab ride each way from the resort - always prompt). Excellent customer care and equipment. They take excellent care of all the gear. All we have to do is show up and get on the boat. Their huge boat has fresh water shower and marine head. The hot tea/coffee and snacks at surface interval was the best. On our first dive we jokingly asked the divemaster to show us a shark. There was one waiting for us when we descended, and we spotted sharks on all subsequent dives, as well as schools of Jacks and Barracuda. The reef life was prolific - lion fish, sharks, barracuda, jacks, anthias, etc - all in abundance. The soft corals and colors were extensive. They don't call it Rainbow Reef for nothing and the Great White Wall is something to be experienced. Visibility was not optimal. Lots of upwelling due to the change in seasons and water temp was 78F but the amount of reef life more than made up for it. We wore 3mm wetsuit and 3mm core suit. Swiss Fiji's divemasters had exceptional eyes, being able to spot the smallest of creatures and their knowledge of the currents and conditions gave us confidence in the dive plans. This was one of the more safety concious operations we've encountered. They also offer free advanced certification if booking for 5 or more days.
