Comments This is a beautifully run, small, off the grid eco-resort with very good diving, wonderful cabins, and really wonderful food. Just 6 cabins or "bures" nestled on a sloping property a short walk to the water. It's a very nicely landscaped compound with a super friendly crew of people that have been there a long time. It's clear that the owners, Carl and Muriel are good employers.

This is an eco-resort, so no AC in the rooms, but that was not an issue for us at all. The bures are made of concrete and finished with local wood in an innovative and clever way. Very cyclone proof.

We stayed a week on this "garden isle" and felt like family by the end. The boats were small and fast and never crowded, with a joyful crew that always remembered our names.

No night diving. Two dives in the morning, as the channel can get pretty windy in the afternoon.

The boats depart a small private harbor a short walk down the road. If you need help with camera gear, or just a ride, they will provide. But we enjoyed the walk.

The dive guides are amiable and well trained, and we were given a good safety briefing when first onboard. There was a large oxygen tank on board in addition to multiple radios. But, while these are covered boats, they have just one motor, so we never went that far, and usually explored sites out in the channel between the two islands. Ingoing and outgoing tides are big part of the dive planning process. Some sites were too rough to dive when we were there. We did not dive "Rainbow Passage" for example, which we heard was a great site, but the current was crazy.

We liked the crews very much, but I will say that a couple of the guides might be reminded that they could look back at the guests more often to make sure everybody is fine. I don't like to be coddled underwater, but my wife and I do like to know that guide is paying attention to us.
The corals were variable in quality. Some places in the area are spectacular, others have clearly suffered from either Crown of Thorns, Bleaching, or the Cyclone in 2016.

I don't want to harp too much on the patches of dead coral here because overall this is one of the better places in the world we have been to. As is everywhere, the underwater environment is in decline. It's a good idea to support places like this to help preserve what is left. The food at this place was way above what you might expect at a small resort. Very clever dishes, and my vegetarian wife was taken care of with delicious options. Would we go back? You bet!

Dive own profile ?
Enforced diving restrictions Dives were pretty much limited to less than one hour by the crew. I'm guessing this is because we were diving air, and deco facility is far away. At this time, Nitrox was available, but expensive, so we just did air. Owner is considering a new Nitrox system, but it's a small resort.
Liveaboard? no Nitrox Available? yes
