Comments The resort, Taveuni Palms is a high end boutique resort that provides outstanding facilities, quality gourmet food, and personalized service beyond the best cruise ship I have ever been on. My wife and I came a year ago on our honeymoon and decided to do it again and brought two friends with us on this trip. The resort is owned and run by Kelly and Tony Acland. It is expensive but provides great value for the money.
This year the resort uses Taveuni Ocean Sports owned and operated by Julie Kelly. We did one dive one our honeymoon last year with a different dive operator. We did not get a good briefing and the current was fast and not enjoyable. This year the dive plan was given by Julie with a drawing of the dive area, explanation of the currents and how we would dive the currents. What a difference a good dive master makes in having a great experience. Julie taught us so much about drift diving. Julie also spends time before the first dive giving an educational session on the environment and sea life. She is a great teacher both above and below the water. When Julie determined that we were all skilled enough, she introduced us to the hook so that we could stay in one spot and watch the fish and examine the coral. Also great for taking pictures. The things that we saw would take a book to describe-- must see and experience this yourself. We did 10 dives in 5 days with Julie and hope to do it again next year

Dive Policy

Dive own profile no
Enforced diving restrictions In our opinion the strong currents require the help of a local that understands the currents and makes them work for you instead of experiencing the unexpected. We were happy to comply with the dive master who led us and pointed out many things we may have missed on our own

UW Photo Comments The setup for photography is modest but the subject matter is great. Lots of subject matter on every dive. I used a single flash SeaLife and got very good shots. The owner of the shop, Julie Kelly took pictures of our group under water and did a nice job
