Comments The diving in Fakarava is phenomenal, so magical that I wish it could remain a secret forever. Pristine reefs bursting with life. Fish soup, plus lots of big stuff - sharks and mantas - with happy surprises on almost every dive. In just a few days, we saw a sailfish, a manta, and more sharks than we could count - including a silky shark, and a very unexpected WHALESHARK! Fakarava is truly our Mecca of tropical diving.

Loved Dive Spirit. We especially appreciated the higher capacity steel tanks, fast boat, and our knowledgeable and attentive guides. Some of the diving in Fakarava is a bit technical (incoming current dives involve very strong currents and decompression stops), but Dive Spirit went out of their way to make sure we had a safe, comfortable and unforgettable experience.

Pension Paparara was a great find. Charming bungalows, with plenty of space (and hot showers!), right on the lagoon with unforgettable views of the sunset. Great access to the magical water of Fakarava, with a nice swimming beach at your doorstep. We especially loved watching the resident black tip reef sharks and nurse shark swimming around the dock in the evening. Our hosts could not have been more gracious-- such warm hospitality and incredible food.
