Comments Despite the unusually heavy rains and runoff during our stay on Bora Bora, TopDive went the extra yard to keep us diving. The lagoon diving was so-so with poor visibility due to the runoff, but the customer service from TopDive is the reason for bothering to write this report. The last dive outside the lagoon that the deteriorating conditions permitted was lovely. The surf and surge blocked further diving outside the lagoon.

When our last day of diving was cancelled due to continuing storms, all of our group's gear was returned to the hotel where we were staying (Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora). The freshly changed battery in my backup computer showed BAT warnings on day one, but the driver that dropped our gear offered to take us store to store in Vaitape to find a battery, then dropped us at the pharmacy for a couple of things I needed, and made sure we were OK with getting a taxi back to the hotel after we explored Vaitape. (I think they would have gladly taken us the 5 miles back to the hotel, but there is a limit to how much I was willing to impose.)

I enjoyed the Maitai Polynesia Bora Bora. The place is unpretentious, the rooms comfortable and the staff is welcoming and helpful. We had an ocean view room that had a commanding view of the lagoon and the Sofitel bungalows in the middle of the lagoon. Food isn't cheap: a substantial burger and fries is about as cheap as it got and was listed at US$18 on the menu (so, consider a meal plan). Two shops within walking distance of the hotel provide lunch options that are cheaper: DIY wine, cheese and bread (freshly baked baguettes) or fresh, hot, dishes (like chow mein) pre-packaged near the checkout stands.
