Diving was spectacular and nothing like i have done before. A lot of go down and hang on/sit to watch the show. From Hammerheads galore to a herd of sea Lions playing. Marine iguanas feeding. Huge schools of fish. So many fish that they hid what was on the other side. Topography completely different from site to site. All crew wore masks. The 16 of us who were diving elected to not wear masks. You had to be vaccinated and tested to enter the Galapagos. Crew sprayed hand sanitizer whenever we got back on the boat from an excursion. Charging area on dive deck. Emergency drill done on first day on boat. They clearly had their act together. Food was plentiful and excellent. They accommodated vegetarians and me(I don't eat any plant based food, only animal based) Crew was absolutely amazing. . Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, fun. 3-4 dives a day depending on transit time between islands. Hot chocolate, hot towel and food after each dive. Crew assisted with gear on and off. Hot showers on dive deck. Diving was from pangas. I can not recommend Calipso enough. This was a fantastic experience. Several people cried at the last night farewell because it was so good. This is a new boat and is airy, roomy, and friendly. Dive deck had plenty of room even when all 16 divers water getting ready. The boat alternates between a week of diving and a week of land based naturalist led hikes/snorkeling. My wife and I did both weeks. Highly recommend the naturalist tour as well. |
