Comments This was my second trip to Carricou. The diving remains good but there were fewer fish and more algae than last year.

There were 8 in our party. We booked a diving accommodation and breakfast package with Deefer Diving. The accommodation and breakfast were at John's Unique Resort. One of several local hotels that Deefer deals with.

The focus of this review is the hotel. Apparently, it used to be a well run, economical option. It is no longer well run. The staff have no initiative and the owners don't care.

The rooms were all bug infested to the point were sleep was difficult. The ground floor rooms were the worst. The occupants of one room taped the windows and door to the balcony shut to limit the ingress of mosquitoes and no-see-ums. The people in two other rooms bought heated bug pads on the recommendation of Deefer to kill the bugs.

The rooms were low on amenities. Shampoo was not supplied. Only some rooms had water glasses. The AC units were of varying age and effectiveness. Mine was not adjustable and set at 27C (81F).

The rooms were cleaned once in a week and a half.

The fried breafast was adequate in quantity but unappealing. It typically consisted of scrambled eggs, fried meat (bacon, sausages or Spam!), bread and instant coffee. Jam and peanut butter were available for the bread. If you wanted pepper, condiments or cereal you had to supply your own.
