Comments My wife and I dove with 3 dive operators on Guadeloupe in 2011. Les Heures Saines was by far the best of the three. They had an active boat diving, PADI training, and rental operation just beside the Cousteau Reserve. Our PADI nitrox instructor Laurent was calm, patient and thorough. Safety was his number one concern. Our 3 boat dives were great. Two were on the reef in the Cousteau Reserve. A wide variety of tropical fish, coral and a hawksbill turtle. Many more fish than other dive sites outside the reserve. We did one wreck dive on the Franjack to 75'. Lots of fish on the wreck, good visibility and an excellent swim-through the engine room. Diving on the west side of Basse-Terre was protected from the prevailing wind, so diving condition were usually excellent. Local restaurants were good for seafood and inexpensive. There are many other activities on offer close-by: historic sites, hiking, kayaking, botanical parks, sandy beaches and all sorts of accommodation options. Speaking some French is a definite advantage in Guadeloupe.
